Follow the registration steps to create an account to begin your awards entry. All questions marked with * are mandatory, you will not be able to submit your entry without providing an answer to these questions.

Most categories are accompanied by supporting documents, a Guidance Document and Scoring Grid, offering advice on how to answer each question in the scored section of the entry. You will be asked to register for an account on the Eventsforce platform which is being used to manage the submission process this year.  Please complete the online form for reaccreditation. All questions marked with * are mandatory, and you will not be able to submit your entry without providing an answer to these questions. When and how will the awards results be announced?

26 March 2018

All submitted entries will receive results privately by email in the week commencing 26 March 2018, followed by topline feedback based on the comments of the assessors.

This is when you will hear if your entry has reached the longlist stage, finalist stage or unsuccessful. If you have applied for reaccreditation, you will find out if you have been successful on this date.

23 - 27  April 2018

The "Longlist" will be publically announced during Responsible Business Week from 23-27 April 2018. All companies that have reached this stage will be sent a communications pack and an endorsement mark to help them profile their achievement to both internal and external stakeholders.

June 2018

The "Finalists" will be publically announced in June 2018, with coverage by our national media partner The Financial Times. Finalists will be sent a communications pack and an endorsement mark to help them profile their achievement.

July 2018

Winners and Highly Commended companies will be announced at BITC's annual Responsible Business Gala in July 2018.

Is my company eligible to enter?

The awards are open to Business in the Community members and all non-member private sector businesses. We welcome entries from across the UK and internationally.

Each entry is scored against a comprehensive scoring guide, not against other entries, when determining the Longlist.

Please note: each category will specify whether the programme, initiative or strategy must have UK impact only, or international impact. For more details on eligibility in each category please check the individual category pages on www.bitc.org.uk./awards.

We are looking for entries with a programme, initiative or strategy that goes above and beyond any legal, statutory, regulatory or contractual requirements that the business must meet.

Can a unit of a larger business enter the awards?

Yes. Strategic business units (SBUs) can enter a programme, initiative or strategy that they are wholly running (except for Business in the Community's Responsible Business of the Year Award).

When submitting an entry, the title and company details given should be those of the SBU rather than the parent company - e.g. Nescafé, not Nestlé. Please enter the name of the parent company name where indicated on the online form.

Can public or third sector organisations enter the awards?

While we recognise the brilliant work done by public and third sector organisations, the Responsible Business Awards are specifically designed to celebrate successes by private sector organisations. We therefore cannot accept entries from the following:

  • Public sector organisations, except Business in the Community members
  • Third sector organisations, including commercial arms of charities
  • Organisations that have been set up to specifically address the social or environmental issue that the entry focuses on

How much does it cost to enter the awards?

The Responsible Business Awards are free to enter.

My company was successful last year. Can I enter again?

If your organisation was the overall category Winner in 2017, you cannot submit an entry to the same or equivalent category for 2018, but you can apply for reaccreditation*.

2017 Winners are very welcome to enter a different category.

Highly Commended, Finalists and Longlist 2017 companies are able to submit entries for the same or equivalent category this year.

*The Responsible Business of the Year award is not eligible for reaccreditation.

My company is based in Northern Ireland or Wales. Can I enter the Responsible Business Awards?

Yes, absolutely! Wales and Northern Ireland and are running separate Responsible Business Awards so you may also like to apply for these too.
